Nouveau Calls
Nouveau Calls is a powerful, all-instrumental album, written and performed by Wishbone Ash specifically for Miles Copeland’s I.R.S. NO SPEAK label, in 1988. The project featured Martin Turner and Ted Turner, the band’s original bass and lead guitar, along with Steve Upton on drums and Andy Powell on lead guitar.
The recording features the great dual lead guitars of Wishbone Ash together again, but as never before – this time they wind their way through emotive instrumental songs.
The album title Nouveau Calls is a pun on “No Vocals”.

Wishbone Ash is a British rock band who achieved success in the early and mid-1970s. The group originally formed in 1969.
Wishbone Ash is noted for their extensive use of the harmony twin lead guitar format, which had been attracting electric blues bands since Jeff Beck and Jimmy Page played together in The Yardbirds in 1966. Their contributions helped Andy Powell and Ted Turner to be voted “Two of the Ten Most Important Guitarists in Rock History.”
