Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 now $199! and Rumor of Google 10″ Tablet

Effective today, Samsung has slashed the price of its 7″ Galaxy Tab 2 to $199.99, a price drop of $50. You can pick one up today at Office Depot, Best Buy, Amazon.com, and Fry’s Electronics.

Cutting the price of the Galaxy Tab 2 to $199.99 puts it in direct competition with an already highly competitive tablet market which includes Nexus 7, Kindle Fire HD, and the Nook HD.

The Galaxy Tab 2 is Samsung’s flagship economical tablet for the 2012 holiday season.  It is slim, lightweight, well-built, runs Android 4.0, Ice Cream Sandwich, and is stable with responsive performance.  It has a microSD card slot (which accepts cards up to 32GB) and is the only 7″ tablet to include a rear-facing camera.

Also available for those desiring an unlimited, speedy connection, is the Galaxy Tab 2 7″ with a 4G LTE for Verizon Wireless option.  The price tag is a competitive $349.99.

Now for the Google Rumor:  the Nexus 10

Google is said to be working on a Nexus 10, a 10.1″ tablet targeted to be released sometime in the first half of 2013.  Google is partnering with Samsung to develop the tablet.  The key feature leaked thus far is that the Nexus 10 will have a display of 2,560×1,600 and will have a PPI of about 299, which looks like Google is making a point to best the iPad’s 264 PPI on Apple’s 9.7-inch 2,048×1,536 Retina display.
